The VA reimburses at a rate of one month of entitlement for every $2,348.36 spent on eligible course fees.

Example:
If a bootcamp costs $13,000:
$13,000 ÷ $2,348.36 = 5.53 months of GI Bill entitlement used.

The VA may also cover up to $2,000 in qualifying licensure and certification test fees.

Under Chapter 35, the VA reimburses at a rate of one month of entitlement for every $1,536 spent on course fees.

Example:
A bootcamp costs $13,000

Yes. If you began your bootcamp on or after May 5, 2025 and April 8, 2025, you may still be eligible for reimbursement, even if you’re currently enrolled or have already completed the program. This applies to coursework completed during the VA-approved period for the 2025–2026 academic year.

To confirm your eligibility and next steps, please contact the University of Chicago’s OMAC at veterans@uchicago.edu.

Yes. To be eligible for reimbursement, you must complete the full bootcamp program. Students who have been approved for GI Bill benefits equal to 25% ($3,250) or more of the full tuition of $13,000 can choose to defer payment of a portion of their tuition. They will pay an initial deposit of $1,995 at the time of enrollment. Then, within 60 calendar days after the Program End Date, they agree to pay the remaining balance of $11,005. Students are obligated to pay the remaining balance, independent of whether or when they receive funding from GI Bill benefits.

If you receive funding through Chapter 33 or Chapter 35, you will receive reimbursement from the VA. The funds do not go directly to the University of Chicago or HyperionDev.

If you owe the University of Chicago or HyperionDev tuition after receiving reimbursement, you are responsible for ensuring that you have paid the full balance within the agreed-upon timeframe.
